The study of MBBS in a different county is a major decision involving a lot of planning. Now the question is why students should choose any country other than India to pursue MBBS and why it should not be completed in their country.

Condition of Indian Medical system in India

There is only one doctor per 1000 citizens in India; The World Health Organization (WHO) sets a minimum ratio of 1: 1000. While the Union Health Ministry data claims that about 6 to 6.5 lakh doctors are available.

Limited seats in government colleges or institutes and Private institutes demanding huge amounts of money from students which is impossible to pay. So many Indian students prefer to study MBBS from abroad to fulfill their dreams of becoming doctor.

There are many Eastern European and Asian countries such as Russia, China, Philippines, Kyrgyzstan which have been an alternative place to pursue MBBS, although Russia has always been a favorite for Indian students, mainly due to the diplomatic relations that the two countries have.

Why to choose Russia for MBBS Course

In the 90s, Russia used to be a preferred destination for MBBS courses, especially for Indian students who went there in large numbers as compare to any other Western countries because of its latest technology and facilities provided in Russian universities. After 2004 MCI (screening test) was being implemented. There was a steep decline in the number of students going for the MBBS in Russia. It is now being restarted, as the Russian government is subsidizing international students. About 4,500 Indian students are studying in Russia, of which 80% are all medical students.

Language can become a hindrance in abroad, as most people do not speak English, but in Russia, MBBS courses are taught in the English medium. In addition, the universities offer basic Russian speaking courses which is also beneficial for international student’s life. In the final year they are able to communicate with their patients in Russian language.

The living cost and tuition fees are also affordable for International students. And the degree from Russian medical universities are recognized by MCI, WHO, and UNESCO.

The top 3 medical universities in Russia are Mordovia State University, North Ossetian Medical Academy, and Ulyanovsk State University. The admission process is simple because it doesn’t require any entrance exam. Students can take direct admission. The admission is based on students 12th marks and qualify the NEET exam.

In Russian medical universities there are world-class infrastructure and the quality of education and facility is high, and they are focusing more on practical knowledge rather than theoretical knowledge. This is the main reason why many foreign students prefer to study MBBS in Russia.

Overall, best country for mbbs abroad is Russia. Russia is one of the top country in all aspects like fees, education, environment, religion, universities infrastructure, and experience faculty in universities.
